Information

The event will be a 2-hour workshop to foster the implementation process of the IPOS (International Panel for Ocean Sustainability). We will first welcome our participants with introductive addresses from the hosts (FPA2 and IO).

Then, after a brief presentation of the draft IPOS terms of reference (governance, approach, deliverables, etc.) the event will consist of 3 brainstorming sessions to inform the strategic developement of the IPOS: demand-driven approach, temporality of IPOS deliverables, and IPOS hosting and interactions within the UN system.

Each session will start with a high-level panel, followed by an open discussion offering the participants the opportunity to share feedback, queries, advice, etc.

Introductive Addresses by hosts and IPOS team Brainstorming Sessions (3x35 minutes): - Reshaping the ocean science policy interface: Questioning IPOS’s Demand-Driven Approach (for whom, with whom, how, knowledge-broker v. advocate, etc.). - Reconciling effectiveness and legitimacy: The issue of production time of IPOS deliverables. International or Intergovernmental: Questioning IPOS governance model and interfacing with existing UN programs. - International or Intergovernmental: Questioning IPOS governance model and interfacing with existing UN programs.
