The Pelagos Agreement

The Pelagos Sanctuary is a 87,500 km2 marine area subject to an agreement between Italy, Monaco and France to protect its marine mammals. What makes the Pelagos Sanctuary unique is the fact that it is managed by three different authorities, and it includes coastal areas and international waters which form a huge ecosystem of major scientific, socio-economic, cultural and educational interest.
